Directions

Located in the centre of the city, our test centre is very accessible by both local and national transport. We are less than two minutes walk from the Preston Bus Station and two minutes from Preston Town Hall.

From the railway station simply walk to the main road (Fishergate) outside the station and head towards the city centre until Lancaster Road. At Lancaster Road, turn left and follow the road. The Centre will be on your Left just before the Ringway.

By foot, starting from the city centre simply follow the signs to the Bus Station. When you can see the bus station, look for the number 40 stand. Preston Test centre is opposite. Keep the bus station to your right. Preston Test Centre is around the corner (95 Lancaster Road)

By car from M6 Junction 31, follow the A59.Continue straight at the roundabout on to New Hall Lane. At the third set of traffic lights, turn right onto Ringway and turn left at the Holiday Inn Hotel. Car parking is available just a little bit further at Preston Bus Station.

As you may already know, Preston is a university city (approximately 30,000 students at UCLAN). Our location and transport links mean Manchester, Liverpool, the Lake District are a short train ride away. Train links to Scotland and London, and the rest of the UK are excellent!

Preston Academy of English is a British Council accredited school for learning English language in the UK. Maximum 10 students per class means student get excellent individual attention.

Yes, all students must take an  Oxford placement test. This test takes about an hour and 20 minutes to complete and tests the student’s readin, listening, grammar, writing and speaking. The Academic Manager decides which level of the student.

We offer the following levels/classes:

  • Beginner (A1)
  • Elementary (A2)
  • Pre – Intermediate (B1)
  • Intermediate (B1+)
  • Upper – Intermediate (B2)

It usually takes about 10 weeks for a student who is attending a General English 15 hours per week course to move up from one level to the next. Students must have minimum 80% attendance, must complete their homework, pass the end of week unit tests and feedback from the teacher. The final decision is with the Academic Manager.

Yes, once you have completed our online application and received an offer letter and invoice. We will send you an online payment link for the deposit amount for your course. Once this has been paid, we will issue you with a visa support letter.

We accept students who are 18 years and older at the start of their course.

Yes. We will give you a certificate of attendance at the end of your course showing the levels learned and the dates of attendance.

Our courses are designed to start every Monday. When Monday is a bank holiday, the start day is Tuesday.
